Scottish Highland Games

For the 10th Year in a row my sister Sue and I go to the Scottish Highland games at Loon Mountain NH. We arrived early on a Friday morning so we could see the sheepdog trials that go on most of the day.

Here's the strawberry shortcake we had for lunch. There is only one place to get it and the amazing bakery comes each year. If you ever go don't miss the desserts.

There is all kinds of music. A lot of the musicians come from Scotland. Military bands, Harpists, rock and roll bands and one of my favorite pictured here; Albanach. A band that's been coming since I started attending. Their band of five had a motto "Keep it Tribal"...and that they do! Everyone plays a drum, except the lone bagpiper. A surprise guest musician joined them with a didgeridoo...what a sound! Albanach is a wild band that gets everybody swinging their hair.

This year the Moffatt's were the featured clan so the bunch of us (about 14) got to march onto the field ahead of the other clans from all over the USA. My mom and dad came with us and got the picture of the Moffatt's ready to hit the field.

How cute are our parents in the Scottish Hats? Here we were heading up to the top of Loon Mountain in a Gondola.

A good time was had by all!
