Purple and Prince

As some of you may know, purple  is my absolute favorite color. I wandered about the garden and took a few shots this morning.

Outside my studio on the farmers porch I painted a little gourd where the Carolina Wrens have nested for years.

The lilacs are miniatures that come into bloom following the standard darker purple variety...that I have lots of.

And the beautiful Clematis curls up around my lamp post in the front yard.

Aha purple!
The giant iris are so much fun to watch unfurl every year. I have two varieties of large rhododendron. One a bit more on the pink side.

The flower on the upper right...well I don't know what that is. I got it as a freebie at a nursery when I bought a bunch of flowers.

Purple also makes me think of Prince lately. An incredible musician I followed very closely in the 80's. I will never forget the concert my sister and I attended to see Prince and his band the Revolution...adorned in purple of course.

RIP Prince!
