Pictured are a few mini Mexican inspired Mandalas sketched during my visit to NYC this past Saturday. Fifty fabulous Fridas of various age and size descended on the beautiful lawns and paths at the NY Botanical Garden. A flurry of flowered headdresses and colorful swirling skirts adorned the many colorful women arriving for the Frida Kahlo look-a-like contest. No only were the contestants clad in a burst of radiant finery, but many of the people at the park had made their own flower crowns (materials made available by the NYBG). The entire conservatory was pulsing with color and excitement! The show continues thru August with 14 of Frida's pieces at the museum on the property. Catch it if you can!
